History

In 1936, before the Second World War, a group of pioneering Greek entrepreneurs founded VIS. Their vision was to create the first industrial packaging company, utilizing a "smart" and globally timeless material, the corrugated cardboard.

From the beginning, VIS, the leading company in the packaging field, created expertise in the Greek industry, opened new markets and replaced inadequate packing. Its contribution to the creation of Greek products, their development, and their acknowledgment is unique and recognized by the entire Greek industry.

In 1971, VIS was listed on the Athens Stock Exchange, utilizing universal acceptance, support, and participation of the entire business world.

In 1989, the company enters its second phase of rising and growth by becoming a member of the Ioannis Filippou group of companies.

In early 1995, VIS SA became the first company in the industry to be certified according to the standard ISO 9002 by ELOT and the European Organization Quality EQNet.
In 1997, after an investment of 5.5 billion Drachmas (€ 16,14 m.), one of the largest ever made in Greek industry, the company relocates from the historical building of Piraeus street to the Industrial Area of Volos (Central Greece) while modernizing its carton production methods.

In 1995, VIS was awarded ISO 9002:1994 certification. In 1998, upgrades to ISO 9001:1994, in 2003 to 9001:2000, and finally in 2009 to ISO 9001: 2008.

Between 2007 and 2008, VIS modernizes its production capacity and environmental performance following its introduction to the European program IPPC (Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control).

In 2012, VIS is certified according to the SMETA CODE model (Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit) concerning the code of conduct that should govern the operation of enterprises based on four axes: employment standards, health and safety, environmental management and business ethics. It is an ethic code that reflects the long history of VIS SA in the field of Greek Enterprises.


In 2015, the company is certified with the international standard FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) Chain of Custody, in response to the increasingly growing environmental requirements, unreservedly respecting and fully understanding the importance - necessity of the reasonable use of forests and their sustainability.
